Current preparation framework

Written/CBE structure

Recent CBE used Session I for Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Session II for General Awareness and English. The 2026 notice must confirm marks and penalties.

Later stages

Recent scheme: two-session CBE; Havaldar candidates also complete PET/PST; then document and departmental checks.

Syllabus link

Core areas are basic numerical ability, reasoning/problem solving, general awareness and English; Havaldar adds physical standards and efficiency requirements.

Special condition

Havaldar candidates should not assume one universal physical standard. Gender/category and notified concessions must be checked in the 2026 notice.

Read a pattern table safely

  1. Check question count and maximum marks.
  2. Check section and overall time limits.
  3. Record negative marking by session/paper.
  4. Identify qualifying modules and minimum standards.
  5. Map each later physical/skill/medical stage.

Pattern warning

Do not copy a pattern from another year without comparing it line-by-line with the current notice.
