LDC/JSA, DEO and other higher-secondary posts included in the current examination notice. Clerical and data-entry posts have post-specific pay levels. Allowances and deductions vary by posting city and department.
Compare a post beyond the headline salary
Pay level
Read the notified pay level/basic pay for the exact post.
Allowances
DA, HRA, transport and other admissible allowances depend on rules and posting.
Deductions
NPS, tax and other deductions reduce gross pay to take-home pay.
Work profile
Desk/field duty, shifts, travel, public interaction, risk, transfers and promotion paths differ.
Preference-order method
- Remove posts for which you do not meet education, age, physical, medical or licence conditions.
- Group remaining posts by work type: administrative, accounts, inspection, field, uniformed or data/skill.
- Compare posting liability, department, work hours and promotion structure.
- Use the official pay level rather than an unofficial “in-hand” promise.
- Submit preferences only in the official window and save the confirmation.
Why “in-hand salary” is not one fixed number
Two appointees in the same pay level can receive different take-home amounts because HRA city class, DA rate, transport entitlement, government accommodation, NPS, income tax and other recoveries differ. A useful page should therefore explain components and cite the pay level instead of promising a universal monthly figure.
Posts and salary FAQs
Is the highest pay always the best preference?
Not necessarily. Eligibility, work profile, location, physical requirements and career fit matter.
Can SSCExam.in guarantee in-hand salary?
No. Only the appointment/pay rules and the employee’s deductions determine the actual amount.
When are post preferences collected?
The timing and method are stated by SSC for the examination cycle.
