SSC CGL Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Date and Post Rules

Most CGL posts require a bachelor’s degree by 1 August 2026, but JSO, Statistical Investigator and state-cadre audit/accounts posts add specific conditions.

Applications closed

A degree alone does not make every CGL post eligible.

Eligibility is post-specific. Age and essential educational qualifications are assessed as on 1 August 2026; the application reopening notice changed only clauses tied to the closing date.

Nationality

Use paragraph 4 and obtain a Government of India eligibility certificate where the notice requires one.

Age and relaxation

Match the post’s 18-27, 20-30, 18-30 or 18-32 band and calculate on 1 August 2026.

Physical and medical conditions

Named inspector and sub-inspector posts can add standards in Annexures XV and XVI.

Post preference

A higher preference does not waive a post-specific education, physical or medical requirement.
